Four times a year we gather together all our ministry leaders at ENCOUNTER for alignment, reaffirming of the vision, prayer, and meeting in specific ministry areas. Each leadership community highlights one of our core values: celebrate, grow, serve and multiply.
During this time, church leaders will have an opportunity to meet with leaders in all areas (1st Impressions, Ekids, MS & HS, creative arts, small group leaders, etc.) to be sure we are accomplishing the vision God has set before us of SEEKING HIS KINGDOM FIRST.
Leadership community is from 9-11:30am. For the first part of the gathering we meet together as a large group for worship, church information, and a Q & A time with our Elders. Usually there is a guest teacher who speaks to us about one of our four core values. Then leaders will break out in their specific ministry area for connection, training, evaluation, and prayer.
Dates for the 2011 leadership communities are:
January 15 - Celebrate
May 14 - Grow
August 27 - Serve
November 12 - Multiply
At ENCOUNTER, one of our core values is to multiply. One of the ways we see this happening is to empower good leaders to coach others and to train them for future leadership roles.
All ministries at ENCOUNTER have a head coach who meets regularly with their leaders. The leaders have an apprentice that they are training. The apprentice then becomes a leader and the same process repeats.
7 coaching questions
1. How are you? (relationships, physical, mental, spiritual Luke 2:52)
2. How did things go since we last met? (accountability/ follow-up)
3. What are you celebrating?
4. What challenges are you facing?
5. How will you tackle those challenges?
6. How can I help?
7. How can I pray for you?
Process for apprenticing 2-2-2 Principle "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others." 2 Timothy 2:2
In the 2-2-2 process of apprenticing we like to use this model where "I" is the leader and "you" is the apprentice:
1. I DO. You WATCH. We TALK.
2. I DO. You HELP. We TALK.
3. You DO. I HELP. We TALK.
4. You DO. I WATCH. We TALK.
5. You DO. Someone else WATCHES.
